6. Meeting

On 31th of march 2006 the rogersfanclub met for the 6th time in Kelsterbach near Frankfurt/Germany.
The club could welcome new friends and fans: Oliver and his wife from Germany, Rudi and Wolfgang from
Vienna/Austria and Anemie and Geerd Roger from Belgium!

The meeting this year had its focus on the members themselves and so we had not planned a visit from
a special guest. All members and friends of the rogersfanclub had a great time and apreciated to have
much time to spend together.

On the first eventpoint this day we presentated the film about the last meeting with the visit of Roy Burns.
It was very nice to recall these very nice moments!

After a short coffee brake we moved on to Rogers Dynasonic - Snaredrumtuning again, because some friends
wanted to have again more informations about this tricky theme! Peter demonstrated the correct Mounting of
the snarewires on the dynasonic-frame and of the dynasonic-frame himself. Also Peter and Gerhard gave
additional information depending Rogers company history and the dynasonic snaredrum.

As on every meeting, playing on the displayed sets took its while. Rudi from Vienna had two very nice sets with
him: A swivomatic kit in silver-sparkle with old-style external-bassdrum-damper on the resonant side of the bassdrum
and a wonderful swivomatic kit in absolutely new condition! Like out of the box looked this set in gleaming
pink-strata-pearl! Peters eyes get wet every time he recalls this set!
Gerhard presented a custom snaredrum in 13", which he has converted from a swivomatic-tom with original Rogers
parts and the fans were impressed how good this drum sounded. Also he displayed his first self-built Cajon.
This music-box had much power, especially in the lower frequencies!

Ali and Mike played some solos on their Rogers drumkits and showed how much you can get out from Rogers drums. Gerd from Belgium showed the fans to play a one-hand-roll with the left hand and let the right one solo about
the other drums!

And as every year, the time passed away very fast and we found us on dinner on that evening, which was very funny.
Have a look at the pictures!

So again, the rogersfans from all over Germany, from Austria, France and Belgium, had a great day!
These people showed how much they love Rogers and drumming to attend the meeting again!

See us at the 7th meeting.....Keep on drumming and all the best....

Peter and Andreas of the rogersfanclub

5 Years www.rogersfanclub.de

On April 8th the members and friends of the rogersfanclub.de met for the 5th time! Every rogersfan has received its own "Rogersfanclub-T-Shirt" and the second edition of the "Rogers Book"; each with a personal adress from the author, Mr. Rob Cook. The rogersfanclub.de is also present in this book with a nice picture from one of our meetings. Thank you , Rob!

The main topic this year was "Dynasonic Tuning", after having a lot of requests and questions about correct tuning of this special snaredrum. Trough the kindly support from Mr. Jürgen Mader of www.drumsonly.de (a well-known german drumstore) we had several AQUARIAN-snaredrumheads (also some special types like the "modern vintage") available for testing. Peter and Gerhard from the rogersfanclub.de began with mounting and tuning of the heads on a dynasonic snaredrum and so we could gain some experience with these drumheads. Drumheads and tuning is a very personal thing, but we found that AQUARIAN-drumheads are high-quality and have some very nice features, like the collar design and the special coating (SATIN FINISH). www.drumsonly.de provides all AQUARIAN-drumheads with fast and correct service and good pricing. Try it by yourself.....

Now it was time for our special guest: After experiencing heavy traffic from the music fair in Frankfurt to Kelsterbach,
our guest was here: It was Mr. Roy Burns, well-known jazz-drummer and long-time rogers endorser, now owner of the AQUARIAN drumhead company! rogersfanclub.de began contacting Mr. Roy Burns in 2000 for visiting our meeting. We are very happy that this event took place on our 5th meeting! Mr. Burns explained the characteristics of the AQUARIAN-drumheads and how they are made. After this presentation he told us some nice stories about his drumming live, for example with Benny Goodman and his orchestra. We asked Mr. Burns for a little drumming example on a rogers drumset: he told us that he does not play any longer and has stopped playing in 1997. He had some CD's with him and told that these recordings represent his playing at the best and we should listen to these recordings. But we wanted to have him play and so he showed us a nice drumming example with brushes. Every drummer familiar with brush playing noticed immediately his experience with brush playing and his classic style! Thank you, Mr. Burns!

We are very happy to say hello to new rogersfans every year we met! So this year Thomas from Frankfurt, Dietmar from Rodgau and also Annemie & Geert from Belgium!

As every year, the time went away so fast! We finished the meeting with a nice dinner and a lot of topics to talk about.

We want to say "thank you" to all people supporting rogersfanclub.de, all members and friends, Mr. Roy Burns of AQUARIAN, Mr. Rob Cook and Mr. Jürgen Mader of www.drumsonly.de!

Here are the photos of the meeing.

Greetings, rogersfanclub.de!

Rogersfanclub met again

Rogers Fanclub meets for the fourth time!

On April 2nd 2004 the 4th Meeting of the Rogersfanlcub took place in Kelsterbach near Frankfurt/Germany! This time it was possible to set the score several points higher with creating and attending two hours of Rogers- and drumset-history!

Peter from Rogersfanclub was very early in Kelsterbach to set up his personal "Megaset", which is inspired by the "Rogers Super 24 Outfit", but I think Peter had more drums and parts here! Everyone who saw this "installation" was not only impressed by the condition of the drums and hardware, which have been polished to look as "new-out-of-the-box", but also with exact tuning and very nice tone of all drums!

On the afternoon the rogers fans from all over Germany but also France and Austria got to Kelsterbach.
This year we could welcome 6 new friends with their Rogers-Drums on our meeting:

Otto and Maggie from Günzburg (South-Germany) with their wonderful Rogers-Holiday-Drumset in "Black Onyx Pearl" with matching woodshell-powertone-snare in absolutely original condition!

Achim and Claudia from Kassel (Northern Germany) with their XP-8 Londoner Five drumkit in now "Natural Maple"-Finish! Well done!

From Munich we had two new friends: Mike, professional drummer, with his Londoner Five in "Metallic Silver" and
several customized Rogers parts and Ali, also a professional drummer, with his nice and rare holiday drumset in
"Black Diamond Pearl".

From Mainz (Central Germany) Gerd and Bernd with their Londoner Five in "New England White".

Last but not least Klaus, drum teacher and professional drummer, from Austria with his first Rogers drumkit, a Londoner Five BIG-R in "Spanish Gold". It took Klaus several attempts to get this drumkit. Now he has it and it sounds and looks great!

We were very happy to welcome Mr. Jim Chapin as out first guest on this meeting. Jim was Rogers endorser from 1959 to 1968 and is also author of several drum lessons and books. Jim was very impressed to play rogers drums again and showed some very nice playing and explained several parts. Jim signed a drumhead for the rogersfanclub and also for most of the rogersfans attending the meeting.

At 18:00 h Mr. Pete York was out second guest at this meeing. Pete is a great fan of Vintage-drums, especially Rogers, and so he attended a rogersfanlcub meeting for the second time! Pete showed us great jazz- and swing-drumming and explained some very nice details of drumming, but also his personal view of the music buissness, especially here in Germany. One very nice thing we can salute is that Pete is now 25 years endorser of Pearl drums, and this is a very long time! Congratiulations from all over the rogersfanclub! We have also to thank Pete for his open mind and ear for the rogersfanlclub! This year Pete also attended our rogersfanclub dinner, were we all met after we
dissassembled our stuff, and let this wonderful day fade out.....

On the next day, Peter and Andreas took a visit to the Frankfurt Music Fair. There they met
Heinz Kronberger and Manni von Bohr from the German drum publication "drums&percussion" about displaying the
"Rogers Book" of Rob Cook. Also they met Mr. Roy Burns, former Rogers endorser, about attending a Rogersfanclub meeting.

This fourth meeting has pushed every one who was there and it was a great time! And that was our aim! We hope that all friends of Rogersfanlub will be there again and, of course, a lot of new friends from all over the world!

But there is a little problem....can we do it better again? We don't know....but it's possible! We work for it.....

We have to say thank you to following people: Mr. Pete York, Mr. Jim Chapin, Mr. Jürgen Mader (www.drumsonly), Mr. Manni von Bohr (www.drumsundpercussion), Mr. Claus Hessler (former student of Jim Chapin) and all friends here at the rogersfanclub!

Greetings from Peter and Andreas!

Our special thanks goes to Pete York, who is supporting us in his natural and kind manner and regulary provides us with many news. And to the magazine "Sticks"; they published a report about our meeting in their issue of June 2001.

Thanks to all visitors of our guestbook who left their kind and friendly regards and showed us their enthusiasm and love for ROGERS Drums.

We appreciate any tip and advice and love to attach it to our site ! So, if you have any insider tips, GIVE IT TO US!

Friday, March 3rd, 2001: first meeting of the ROGERS Fan Club

We were all there !

The ROGERS fans met for the first time in Klesterbach near Frankfurt. We rented the Hessen-Saloon in the Town Hall, and it was a great day.

It was really interesting to now meet the folks personally that I knew from the phone for more than half a year. Everone was there, in spite of long distances! That's the real FAN !

Alltogether, we had set up 23 ROGERS Sets. From JET BLACK to NEW ENGLAND WHITE, from BLUE STRATA PEARL to WHITE MARINE PEARL and from SILVER SPARKLE to PINK CHAMPAGNE PEARL; Swiv-O-Matic and MemriLoc System, everything was present.

The culmination of that day was of course, when at 16.45h PETE YORK arrived, coming from the Frankfurt Music Fair. Despite of many dates and appointments, Pete had some spare time for us and came, as promised, to Kelsterbach.
Again, in the name of all, sincere and many thanks!

In September 2000, when I went to Lorsch to one of Pete's concerts to prepare the meeting I wasn't quite sure if all was to come off as planned. Dieter Kuebler from Lorraine in France told me at the end of the meeting, that he did't want to believe me, when I told him beforehand on the phone that Pete York had been invited and that he intended to come and see us !

Pete gave us a sample of his skills and at the end we all played together under his direction. It simply was wonderful with him. A gentleman at the drums and as a person.

Our guests on March, 3rd, 2001 were:

Hauke Harder, Lautertal, NEW ENGLAND WHITE Londoner Five
